Generate an Annual Training Plan (ATP) in Minutes

An Annual Training Plan is the backbone of serious coaching — and traditionally one of its most tedious jobs. TrainerPlan’s ATP generator builds a season-long, periodised plan around your athlete’s races in minutes: you set the goals and the volume, it lays out the season week by week, and everything stays editable.

Generate the season

  • Open your athlete and go to the ATP tab.
  • Make sure the athlete’s events are on the calendar — the generator plans around their races, using the A/B/C priority you set on each event.
  • Start the generator, review the settings (plan range, weekly volume), and generate.

TrainerPlan starts from your athlete’s events: as soon as they are on the ATP, it lays out a basic season template around them — placing the mesocycles, the peak and the taper relative to each race — and that template is what you then refine. TrainerPlan produces a complete week-by-week season: a volume chart across the months, and a table with every week’s planned volume (in hours, distance or effort), mesocycle and events.

What the generator takes care of

  • Periodisation: the season is structured in mesocycles — Preparation, Base, Build, Peak, Race and Transition — with an off-season after the final Transition.
  • Race-week logic: A-races get a proper peak and taper; B-races get a mini-taper that sharpens without derailing the block.
  • Load rhythm: load weeks build up and every 3rd or 4th week is a recovery week (your Recovery cycle setting), and each week’s volume is calculated from the weekly average you entered.

It’s a draft you own

The generated plan is a starting point, not a straitjacket. Every week is editable: change a mesocycle, adjust a week’s planned volume, add an event mid-season and re-shape around it. Your inputs are remembered, so re-running the wizard later starts from where you left off. When you’re happy, hit Save plan — the weekly targets then guide your day-to-day planning on the calendar, where the ATP’s weekly totals sit alongside what the athlete actually completes.

Who can use it

The ATP is available to coaches on the Basic and Elite plans (not Starter), and Premium athletes can view their season plan. If you’re planning seasons for a full roster, this is the feature that gives you your winter evenings back.
