Create a strength session
- In the athlete's calendar, click the + on the day.
- Open the activity selector and choose Strength, the new option.
- Give the session a title, for example "Lower body strength".
The exercise library
Clicking the exercise name opens the library, with more than 7,500 exercises, all with video. You can filter by muscle group, such as Legs, or type what you are looking for, for example "full barbell squat".
Each exercise comes with its video and the technique explained step by step. It is the same thing your athlete will see in the app.
Sets and parameters
- Choose the number of sets.
- Enter the reps and the weight in the first row. They are copied to the rest.
Each column can be changed to another parameter: weight as a percentage, RPE, distance, duration or height.
An isometric exercise, such as the elbow plank, does not count reps. Swap the reps column for duration and remove the weight one. For example, three sets of thirty seconds.
Blocks and supersets
- Blocks: Add Block creates a second block, B. Search for the exercise the same way as before and give it its sets, reps and weight.
- Supersets: if you add another exercise within the same block, it becomes a superset, with exercises B1 and B2 one after the other.
You can give each block a name, for example "Posterior chain and core".
Custom exercises
If an exercise is not in the library, create your own with these details:
- Title.
- Muscle group.
- Parameters.
- A YouTube video or one you upload yourself.
The exercise is saved in your account to use in any session.
Save to the library
Tick Save as template to reuse the session with other athletes and click Add. The session appears in the athlete's calendar.
The athlete in the app
The session appears in the athlete's calendar, in the TrainerPlan app.
- On opening it they see the blocks, the sets and the weights, and tap Start Training. The timer runs at the top.
- If they are unsure about the technique, they tap the exercise video.
- Each set comes with what you planned. They mark it as done when they finish it and, if they lift a different weight, they change it.
- With the first block done, they move on to the next one.
Completing and rating
- When they finish, the athlete taps Complete Training and confirms.
- Then they say how they felt and their perceived effort, from zero to ten.
The session is logged, with the duration and the perceived training load.
What the coach sees
As the coach, you see it in the mobile app. Open the session and each set shows the weight the athlete actually lifted. Below you have the summary: blocks, sets, duration and Effort.
If you need to adjust the session, tap Edit. You have the same blocks, sets and parameters as on the web.
