How can we help you?  / Trainer  / Library

Add images, videos and files to your workouts

Attach images, videos, PDFs and other documents to a workout or to each step, reuse files from your Library, and add YouTube videos.

You can attach images, videos and documents such as PDFs to any workout, so your athletes have exercise demos and instructions right where they train. Add files to the whole workout or to each step of a structured workout, reuse files saved in your Library, use TrainerPlan's ready-made exercise videos, or add a YouTube video without uploading it.

Attach a file to a workout

  1. Open a workout on the calendar or create a new one. Workouts saved in your Library work the same way.
  2. In the Attachment section, choose how to add the file:
    • Upload to upload a file from your device.
    • Add from library to pick files you already have in your Library, including the TrainerPlan exercise videos.
    • Add URL to paste a YouTube or Vimeo link, or a direct link to an image or video.
  3. Save the workout.

Files you upload to a workout are also saved in Library > Files, so you can reuse them later.

Add a different file to each step

In a structured workout, each step can have its own file, for example a different exercise video for each part of a gym session.

  1. Click the three-dot menu on the right of the step.
  2. Select Add attachment to choose files from your Library, or Add URL to paste a video link.
  3. Select the files and click Add files (the button shows how many you selected). The files appear under that step.

Steps use files from your Library, so if the file is new, upload it to Library > Files first.

Organise your files in the Library

All your files are in Library > Files.

  • To upload a file, click Add Files, enter a Title and an optional Note, click Upload to choose the file, and then click Add.
  • Click Create folder to group your files, and switch between Cards and List to browse them.
  • Search, or filter by type (video, document or image), to find a file.

To move files into another folder, see How to move files or workouts to other folders in TrainerPlan.

Use TrainerPlan's exercise videos and images

In Library > Files you'll find a folder called TrainerPlan with ready-made exercise images and videos, organised in folders such as Workout Videos and grouped by muscle group. To use one, click Add from library in a workout (or Add attachment on a step), open the TrainerPlan folder and select the file.

Add a YouTube video

If the video is already on YouTube, you don't need to upload it:

  • Paste the YouTube link into the workout Description. The video is embedded in the description.
  • Or use Add URL to attach the link to the workout or to a step.

What your athletes see

  • In the web app, files appear in the workout, and files added to a step appear under that step. Athletes click a file to see the image, play the video or open the document. A YouTube video in the description plays inside the workout.
  • In the mobile app, step files appear under each step and the other files at the end of the workout. Images and uploaded videos open in the app, documents open on the phone, and YouTube or Vimeo links open the video. A YouTube video in the description shows as a thumbnail that opens the video when tapped.

Good to know

  • Supported formats are JPG, GIF, PNG, PDF, DOC, DOCX, TXT, MP4, ZWO and ZIP, up to 50 MB per file.
  • Files upload one at a time.
  • If you upload a file that's already in your Library, TrainerPlan tells you it already exists. Attach it with Add from library instead.
  • Deleting a file from your Library doesn't remove it from workouts it's already attached to.
  • Files attached to a Library workout are copied when you add that workout to an athlete's calendar.
  • If you work in a coaching team, your files are saved to the team's shared Library.
  • In strength workouts built with the strength editor, each exercise has its own demo video.
