Masterclass #10 · TrainerPlan Virtual

Your athletes ride the sessions you plan for them on the indoor trainer, in a 3D world, and the session comes back completed on their calendar.

TrainerPlan Virtual is the 3D world where your athletes do, on the indoor trainer, the sessions you schedule for them, without leaving TrainerPlan. Here you will see how they open Virtual, connect their indoor trainer, follow the steps of the session and save it to their calendar, and what you see afterwards. TrainerPlan Virtual is in beta and is free with a TrainerPlan account. Sensors connect from Chrome or Edge on a computer.

The video is narrated in Spanish. Turn on the English subtitles from the player's settings.

You schedule the session

Nothing changes for you. You schedule the session in your athlete's calendar as usual: warm-up, intervals with their power target, and cool-down.

Entering Virtual and choosing the session

These are the steps your athlete follows:

  1. They open Virtual from the TrainerPlan menu, on a computer, with Chrome or Edge.
  2. They choose whether to ride or run.
  3. They choose the route: a flat circuit by the sea, the Sierra de Madrid, central Madrid or the hills of Richmond.
  4. Under Workouts they see what is scheduled for these days, with its steps and targets, calculated from their own zones.

Connecting the indoor trainer

The athlete connects their indoor trainer or power meter over Bluetooth and, if they like, their heart rate strap. As soon as the watts come through, they are ready to go.

Riding and ERG mode

During the session, the athlete sees on screen which step they are on, the power target and what is left.

If they turn on trainer control, in the power intervals ERG mode holds the watts for them. For the rest of the session they feel the climbs in their legs.

Saving to TrainerPlan

When they finish, the athlete chooses Save to TrainerPlan. The session you had scheduled is marked as completed in their calendar, with this data:

  • Time.
  • Distance.
  • Elevation gain.
  • Power.
  • Heart rate, if they wear a strap.
  • Their Effort.

What you see as the coach

You see the session in your calendar like any other workout: what the athlete actually did alongside what you had planned, with their Effort, which already counts towards their fitness and fatigue.
