Use the TrainerPlan mobile app: a guide for athletes
See your plan, log your workouts, follow strength sessions step by step and talk to your coach from your phone.
The TrainerPlan app puts your training in your pocket. You can see what your coach has planned, log what you did, follow strength sessions set by set, review your workouts and talk to your coach. It's the same account as the web app, so everything stays in sync.
Download the app and log in
- Download TrainerPlan from the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play (Android).
- Log in with the same email and password you use on the web. The first time you log in on a new phone, we email you a 6-digit code to confirm it's you.
- The app then offers to connect your watch. You can do it straight away or later from Settings › Connections.
Five icons at the bottom take you around the app: Dashboard, Calendar, Analysis, Chats and Settings. The bell at the top opens your notifications.
Connect with your coach
Signed up with your coach's invite? If you created your account from the invite link or email your coach sent you, you're already connected. There's nothing else to do.
You only need to connect if you signed up on your own, without an invite. In that case:

- Go to Settings › My Coach.
- Enter your coach's email and tap Send Coaching Request.
- Your coach gets an email and has 72 hours to accept. Once they do, the workouts they plan appear in your calendar.
The same screen shows who coaches you, and Remove ends the connection. Learn more in Connect with your coach.
Dashboard: your day at a glance

The Dashboard shows today's workout and your upcoming events. Tap a workout to open it, or tap Add to create one.
The top card shows your Performance: Fitness, Fatigue and Form. Swipe it to compare what was planned and what you completed this week and last week.
Calendar: your training week

- Use the arrows to move between weeks, or tap Today to come back.
- Completed workouts are coloured by how closely they matched the plan. The E badge shows the workout's effort, and a medal means you set new personal records.
- Tap the + button to add a workout, an event or a race, or to Generate with AI.
- To move a workout you added yourself, press and hold it and drag it to another day, or use its ⋮ menu to copy or move it.
Add your races and events

Add your races so you and your coach can plan around them.
- On the Dashboard, tap Add next to Upcoming events. You can also use the + button in the calendar.
- Enter the name of the event, the Date and the Start time.
- Set the Priority: A for your main goal, B for important races and C for the ones you use as training.
- Add the distance or a description if you like, then tap Save.
Your events appear in your calendar and under Upcoming events, and your coach sees them too. Learn more in Create events and competitions in your calendar.
Open a workout to see what to do

Tap any workout to see your coach's description and each step with its target: pace, heart rate zone or power. Repeats are grouped, for example "Repeat 10 times". Targets use your own zones.
If your coach attached a video, image or file, you'll find it in the workout too. Use Previous and Next to go through your week.
Check your training zones

Workout targets use your own zones, so keep them up to date. Go to Settings › Zones and choose HR, Pace or Power. Tap a set of zones to see the range of each zone.
To change them, tap Edit and update your values, such as your maximum and resting heart rate or your threshold. Your coach can also set your zones for you.
Log your workout
If your watch or app is connected, you don't need to do anything. Your activity syncs on its own and is matched to the planned workout.
To log a workout by hand:

- Open the workout and scroll to Actual Workout.
- Tap ✓ if you did it, or ✕ if you missed it.
- Enter the duration, distance and heart rate. Choose an Intensity from 1 to 10, then tap a face to say how you felt.
- Tap Save.
Follow a strength session set by set

- Open the strength workout and tap Start Training.
- A timer starts and you'll see each exercise with its sets. Tap an exercise's video to see how it's done.
- Change the reps or weight if you need to, then tick each set as you finish it. Tap Add Set if you do an extra one.
- When you're done, tap Complete Training, then tell your coach how you felt and how hard it was (RPE).
Review your completed workouts

Open a completed workout to see what you did. AI Training Analysis sums up the session in a few lines and compares it with your recent training.

Workouts synced from a device have more tabs below Actual Workout:
- Laps: your laps and splits.
- Details: charts for altitude, heart rate, pace, cadence and power, plus a map.
- Zones: your time in each zone.
- Curves and Peaks: your best efforts.
Talk to your coach

Every workout has a Comments tab. Use it to tell your coach how a session went. Your coach's replies show up there too.

For everything else, use Chats. You can send messages, emoji, photos, files and voice notes. Ticks show when your coach has read a message.
Track your progress

The Analysis tab is your own board of charts. Tap Add graph to choose from distance, duration, effort, body metrics and more. Drag the charts to reorder them, and tap a chart to change its period.
Connect your watch

Go to Settings › Connections and switch on your device or app: Garmin, Strava, Polar, Suunto, COROS, Wahoo, Hammerhead or, on iPhone, Apple Watch. Log in and choose how many days of past activities to import. Your new activities then sync on their own. Learn more in Connect your device and sync your workouts with TrainerPlan.
On iPhone, Apple Watch can also receive your planned workouts. Tap Manage Connection and switch on Auto sync to watch.
Notifications and settings
- Switch on Enable Push Notifications at the bottom of Settings to hear about new workouts, comments and messages. If your phone blocks them, allow them in your phone's settings under TrainerPlan › Notifications.
- Profile: your photo, details and weight.
- Settings: language, units, time zone and date format.
What's included with Premium
Some features need an Athlete Premium account: the Performance chart, the advanced Analysis charts (zones, curves, peaks and strength), AI Training Analysis, AI-generated workouts, the workout library and saving your own strength workouts. See Athlete accounts: Basic vs Premium for the full comparison.
A few things are only on the web, such as uploading a FIT file or merging a planned workout with a synced activity.
