Two-factor authentication: a code by email when you log in
Ask for a 6-digit code by email when someone logs in to your account from a new device, require it for your whole team, and sign out of other devices.
Two-factor authentication adds a second step to logging in. After your password, TrainerPlan emails you a 6-digit code the first time you log in from a browser or phone it doesn’t know yet. Someone who learns your password still can’t get in without access to your email. It is off until you turn it on.
Turn it on
- Select your photo (top right) › My Profile › Security.
- Switch on Two-factor authentication.
- We email you a 6-digit code. Enter it and select Turn on. The code works for 10 minutes.
Turning it off works the same way: it asks for a code from your email first.
Logging in with it on
- Enter your email and password as usual.
- On a browser or phone we don’t know yet, the Check your email screen asks for the 6-digit code we just sent you.
- Enter it. That browser won’t ask again for 30 days, and the TrainerPlan app for a year.
Didn’t get the code? Check your spam folder, or select send a new code.
Require it for your whole team
If you own a team, the Security page has a Team section. Switch on Require two-factor authentication for the whole team and confirm with the code we email you. From then on, every coach on your team is asked for a code when they log in from a new device, and we email them to let them know. They can’t turn it off for themselves while the team requires it. See Add your coaching team.
Sign out of other devices
Under Other devices, Sign out of other devices signs you out of every other browser and the app, and forgets the devices you trusted, so they ask for a code again. You stay signed in where you are. Use it if you lose a phone or forgot to log out of a shared computer.
Good to know
- With two-factor authentication on, changing your account email also asks for a code sent to your current address.
- The code always goes to your account email, so keep that address up to date.
- Your athletes have the same option on their own Security page.
