Athlete Masterclass #1 · Get started with TrainerPlan

Everything you can do for free on the web and in the app, whether you have a coach or train on your own.

Everything you can do for free as an athlete in TrainerPlan, on the web and in the app, whether you have a coach or train on your own: your calendar, planned sessions, zones, your watch, analysis, strength, your coach, your races and your progress.

The video is narrated in Spanish. Turn on the English subtitles from the player's settings.

Your calendar

The activities from your watch arrive here on their own, next to what you have planned. Completed sessions turn green when they match the plan and yellow when they fell short or went over. The E label is the effort of each session, and the column on the right sums up the week: time, distance and load.

If you have a coach

What your coach plans for you appears in your calendar. If you signed up from your coach's invitation, you are already connected. If not, in the app go to Settings › My Coach, enter your coach's email and tap Send Coaching Request. More in Connect with your coach.

If you train on your own

In My Plans you have the store (Find more plans in the store): complete plans created by coaches. Buy one, choose the start date with Start Plan and Apply to Calendar. See Buy a Training Plan on the TrainerPlan Marketplace.

Without a coach, planning your own workouts on future dates is part of Athlete Premium, together with the AI workouts and plans. That is the second Masterclass.

A planned session

Open a planned session to see what to do: the description and each step with its target (pace, heart rate or power), calculated from your own zones. Repeats are grouped, with the recovery between them.

Your zones

Targets use your zones, so keep them up to date. On the web, go to My Profile › Zones, enter your maximum and resting heart rate, your threshold pace or your power, and click Save. Each sport has its own zones, and if you have a coach, they can also set them for you.

Connect your watch

You only connect it once. On the web, open Connect device from your profile menu and choose yours: Garmin, COROS, Polar, Suunto, Wahoo or Strava.

Your watch in the app

In the app it is the same: Settings › Connections, and switch on your watch, including Apple Watch on iPhone. From then on, planned workouts are sent to your watch, and when you complete them they sync to TrainerPlan on their own. More in Connect your device and sync your workouts with TrainerPlan.

Analyse your session

When you finish, the session comes back completed. Open it and click Analyze: the chart with your pace, heart rate and altitude, and your laps one by one below. You see at a glance what was planned against what you actually did.

Strength, set by set (app)

Open a strength session and tap Start Training. Watch the video of each exercise, adjust the weight or the reps and tick each set when you finish it. At the end, note how hard it was.

Talk to your coach (app)

If you have a coach, each workout has a Comments tab to tell them how the session went, and Chats is for everything else, with photos, files and voice notes.

Your races (app)

On the Dashboard, tap Add next to Upcoming events, enter the name and the date and choose the Priority: A for your main goal. If you have a coach, they see it and plan around it.

Your progress (app)

The Analysis tab is your own board of charts: distance, duration, effort or your weight, week by week. Tap Add graph to choose them and drag them to reorder them.
